Toy Fair to Host Inaugural Student Congress Day

January 27, 2020 | Toy Fair New York welcomes more than 250 university-level students each year and this year The Toy Association will elevate the experience for those students with an exclusive day-long series of events.

The inaugural Toy Fair Student Congress, held on Tuesday, February 25, will treat undergraduate students to a networking breakfast, panel presentation, innovation workshop led by Mojo Nation’s Deej Johnson, and an “Open House” visit to booths on the show floor.

The panel presentation will offer students a better understanding of the scope of careers available in the toy industry. Panelists, who include Michelle Grossman, account executive at VIACOMCBS; Dave Harris, senior director of inventor relations at Mattel; and Andrew Perlmutter, president of Funko, will also detail different career paths. Kathleen Campisano, global chief marketing officer at ChizComm & general manager of Beacon Media Group, will moderate. Panelists are subject to change.

“This new initiative is an opportunity for us to help celebrate and foster the growth of future playmakers and innovators,” said Marian Bossard, executive vice president of global market events at The Toy Association. “Not only will students have the chance to see the 150,000+ new playthings from nearly 1,000 exhibiting companies but it invites students of all disciplines to explore what outside-the-box opportunities could be available to them in the toy community.”
