Toy Association Trend Team Promotes 2020 TOTY Finalists Nationwide

December 16, 2019 | The Toy Association trend team and some key online family content creators have been hard at work promoting this year’s finalists for the 20th Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards.

Since announcing the 114 TOTY finalists on November 11, The Toy Association has been spotlighting nominees as the “must-have toys” of the holidays through nearly 20 broadcast TV segments across the country, including major markets like Dallas, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles (pictured), San Francisco, and Washington, DC. The Toy Association is also running a TOTY promotional program with Target.com.

This year, to kick-off the holiday season, TOTY finalists were revealed and unboxed by top toy and game online content creators, including Mommy’s World, Pixel Dan, Gabe and Garrett, and more. Each creator showcased toys from one of the 16 TOTY categories. Surpassing last year’s efforts, this year's efforts have already resulted in 52.8 million online and social media impressions.

"TOTY finalists are a key focus for Toy Association staff as we look for additional ways to promote our members’ innovative products – especially during the busy holiday selling season," said Ken Seiter, The Toy Association’s executive vice president of marketing communications.

Toy fans of all ages can vote for their TOTY favorites at ToyAwards.org through January 5. To date, the public has cast more than 101,500 votes, up 62 percent over the same time last year.

Winners in each category, as well as the coveted overall Toy of the Year winner and the People’s Choice winner will be announced at the TOTY Awards gala on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.

In addition to recognizing the best toys, games, and properties in the marketplace, The TOTY Awards program and ceremony serve as a critical fundraiser for The Toy Foundation (TTF). Companies can lend their support when they reserve ad space in TTF’s 2020 Tribute Book, the official event program for the Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards ceremony.
