Toy Fair Exhibitors Donate Thousands of Toys & Games to Benefit Kids in Need

March 5, 2018 | Thousands of disadvantaged children across the United States will soon have new toys and games to call their own. Following the 115th North American International Toy Fair, exhibiting toy companies donated more than 50,000 new toys to The Toy Foundation’s (TTF) Toy Bank.

At the close of Toy Fair, more than 80 volunteers swept the aisles of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to collect action figures, outdoor toys, ride-ons, dolls, board games, plush, and more, from nearly 300 exhibiting toy companies. The toys are currently being separated and sorted, and will be sent to TTF’s national partner, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA), and several charities in the New York tri-state area serving kids who are impoverished, neglected, sick, or otherwise in need.

“Every kid deserves a chance to role-play as their favorite super hero or to cuddle with their favorite stuffed animal, but not every child has a toy to call their own,” said Elizabeth Max, TTF’ senior foundation manager. “Thank you to all of our new and returning donors who helped us collect more than a half a million dollars’ worth of playthings at Toy Fair. The donations received will make a significant impact on many children in need by letting them experience the magic of play.”

Toy Fair is the Toy Bank’s largest annual toy collection, but TTF strives all year to serve millions of children in need with the help of toy donations, financial contributions, and volunteer efforts.
