Rose City Jr Brings Fun for All Ages to Portland, Oregon

Education and Entertainment Collide at Annual Pop Culture Convention

Portland, OR | August 15, 2019 – Rose City Comic Con, Portland’s 8th annual premier pop culture event, is proud to announce programing for their family-focused pavilion, Rose City Jr, powered by The Toy Association. Rose City Jr provides hours of fun with entertaining and educational programs for fans of all ages, including interactive workshops with characters from hit shows, costume parades, an entire stage dedicated to kids programing, and more. Full details on the activities can be found at online. Tickets to Rose City Comic Con include access to Rose City Jr and are now available. As a special treat, children 2 and under are admitted for free.

Families familiar with Rose City Comic Con, now in its eighth year, will find an expanded dedicated all-ages area with programming on each of the three days. Kids will love the showings of trailers, music videos, and episode clips from DreamWorks’ Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarronto and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. A live animal conservation showcase and will uncover exciting, educational presentations from budding zoologists. Magic Wheelchair, a local nonprofit that builds epic costumes for children in wheelchairs, will return to Rose City Comic Con once again for a costume reveal during the convention. The fun runs all weekend long with endless opportunities to engage in creative play.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

LeakyCon at Rose City Jr
LeakyCon, the world’s largest Harry Potter fan convention, will have a presence all three days of this year’s convention. Returning to the Oregon area for the first time since 2013, Harry Potter fans can revel in all the fun that LeakyCon’s Wizarding Alley will bring to the 2019 Rose City Comic Con. Potterheads will enjoy several Harry Potter themed vendors and specialized programming throughout the weekend and activations on the show floor.

Throughout the con, convention goers can meet other fans at meet-ups of the four houses. LeakyCon at Rose City Comic Con will host panels, interviews, discussions, and celebrations of “The Boy Who Lived” and the extraordinary impact his story has had on the Wizarding and Muggle worlds. LeakyCon is also doing a charity “House Cup Challenge” that will benefit the Harry Potter Alliance.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet actors from the films. Matthew Lewis, Bonnie Wright, and Jason Isaacs will all be appearing on Saturday and Sunday of the show. For more information on guests, photo opportunities and autographs visit here.

Kids Costume Parades
Kids will have the chance to strut their stuff and show off over-the-top outfits in not just one but two costume parades inside Rose City Jr. Entry is limited to the first 30 registrants.

National Wildlife Federation Animal Show with Naturalist David Mizejewski and animal ambassadors from the Oregon Zoo
Meet celebrity naturalist David Mizejewski of the National Wildlife Federation as he hosts an amazing wildlife showcase with Oregon Zoo animals from around the globe.

Author Doug Savage
Young Fans can meet author and cartoonist, Doug Savage, who will be at the convention all weekend long. Savage who created Laser Moose and Rabbit Boy will be available for a meet fans and sign books at the show. He will also debut the third book in the Laser Moose and Rabbit Boy series at the show.

Neontendo Car
Fans of Nintendo games will rejoice! The Neotendo car equipped with retro Nintendo games will make an appearance at Rose City Comic Con this September. Convention goers will have a chance to play Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo and classic Gameboy video games all weekend!

Meet & Greet with Portland Thorns and Timber Joey
Meet players from the Portland Thorns and the official Portland Timbers mascot, Timber Joey on Saturday, September 14!

Families that want to start the fun a little early can head to Rose City Comic Con night on Wednesday, September 11 at the Portland Thorns vs. North Carolina Courage match. Fans can meet up with other lovers of all things pop culture at the soccer game ahead of the convention.
