Protect the Business of Play – Take Action on Capitol Hill This May

Help Mitigate Serious Risks to the Toy Community at TIA’s Annual DC Fly-In

February 24, 2017 | Being engaged in the political conversation has never been more important than today, and elected officials need to hear your voice, according to Steve Pasierb, president & chief executive at the Toy Industry Association (TIA).

“Toy companies need to be directly engaged in Washington, DC. Your business, your employees, and your future is in question,” says Pasierb. “The voices of individual members can and will impact these debates. Why leave your very future up to fate?”

TIA is inviting its members to its 9th Washington, DC Fly-In, taking place May 9-10, 2017. At this critical event, members will meet with policymakers and their staff to educate and inform them about their companies – including the positive economic and societal impact of their business, and top legislative issues posing potential threats to toy companies of all sizes.

“We urge TIA members to join TIA and its board of directors at the Fly-In this spring. In DC, your company faces significant uncertainty and risk – as well as opportunities – with proposals being considered by the new administration and Congress, such as corporate tax reform, U.S. trade policy, and regulatory reform,” says Pasierb.

Past participants have called the Fly-In a “priority event” for their companies.

“As a small company, I can tell you that attending the DC Fly-In matters,” says Stephan Brissaud, chief operating officer of IELLO games. “From the direct conversations with congressional representatives to the learning opportunities about policies that impact my company, I have found the Fly-In to be a priority event for my company to attend. This year’s Fly-In is extremely important and I hope to see dozens of companies like mine speaking up to keep our policymakers accountable for protecting our jobs.”

The Fly-In will open on May 9th with Congressional and other meetings, followed by a TIA-hosted dinner for all participants. Additional meetings with policymakers and their staffs will be held throughout the day on May 10th, ending in mid-afternoon. TIA will schedule all meetings and provide transportation to and from the activities.

TIA members with questions about registration, hotel reservations, and event logistics for TIA’s 9th Annual Washington, DC Fly-In may contact TIA’s Samantha Slosberg, assistant manager of external affairs (202.459.0354).

Additional information about the event will also be sent to TIA members in the coming days.
